SUM has an issue with sudo user

Symptom

SUM does not respond when editing a node with sudo.

Browser will not invoke if SUM is launched from a sudo user.

Solution 1

Cause

The user credentials might not have administrator privileges on the remote node.

Action

Make sure the user that is logged in to SUM is part of the administrator group for the system.

Solution 2

Cause

When SUM is launched as a sudo user from a Linux node, the browser will not invoke.

Action

The following command should be used from sudo user login to get the GUI in the browser window:

sudo -H env DISPLAY=:0 ./smartupdate
