HP SUM assists with the installation of your update(s) by taking you through these steps:

Source Selections

This step allows you to choose the repository or directory to store updates.

• Choose the repository or directory to store updates.

• Create new repositories and/or remove them as well as use hp.com to check for the latest updates. By default, the current directory is added as a repository.

• Only use the repositories that you check for server deployment.

Select Targets

This step enables you to choose one or more targets to update.

• By default, the Local System (the system you are using) is included.

• You may add additional targets manually or through the Find Targets button.

• You may also create groups of targets to fit your specific needs.

• Next, select one or more targets and/or groups that you wish to update.

• HP SUM automatically determines the updates applied to each target.

• You can schedule updates to run at a later time.

Review Updates and Start Installation

This step allows a review of your HP SUM selections and allows you to change pending updates.

• After you click Install, the HP SUM begins to install updates to targets.

• HP SUM updates the local system last if you have remote targets.

• Once a target completes the pending installation, a link is provided to the installation’s log file.
