HP Smart Update Manager (HP SUM) version 5.0.1
HP SUM provides a GUI and a command-line scriptable interface for deploying:
Firmware for single or one-to-many HP servers
Firmware for network-based targeted server options and components such as iLOs and Onboard Administrators, VC Ethernet and Fiber Channel modules.
Software for HP Proliant servers in both Windows and Linux environments.
Important Notes:
All Users: Ensure that any firewalls between this system running HPSUM and the target servers are opened for the necessary management ports, such as SSH and HTTP.
c-Class and Superdome 2 Users: Use the address of the active Onboard Administrator for each enclosure or complex.
BL870c i2 and BL890c i2 users: Use the address of the monarch blade iLO for multi-blade Integrity servers.
HP SUM Features:
Provides an integrated hardware and software discovery engine that discovers the installed hardware and current versions of firmware and software used on target servers.
Installs updates in the correct order to ensure all dependencies are met before deploying a firmware update.
Prevents extraneous network traffic by sending only required components to a selected host server.
Prevents version-based dependencies from destroying an installation and ensures firmware updates are handled efficiently to minimize downtime.
Does not require an agent for remote installations.
