DESCRIPTION:

This RPM is used to provide binary driver modules that have been pre-built
for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 to enable ProLiant Smart Array
SAS/SATA, 5x, 6x, Ex00 and Px00 Series controllers. This RPM provides a customer
friendly approach to install a pre-built binary driver.

NOTE: On some kernel erratas the version of the driver present in the kernel
may be equal to the version being installed by the rpm. However, the driver
in the kernel may not include all of the fixes and enhancements implemented
in the driver contained within the rpm. Therefore the rpm should be
installed in order to obtain the fixes and enhancements that are not present
in the kernel driver.

INSTALLATION

Login as the system administrator (root), download the RPM to a directory on
your hard drive and change to that directory.

To install or upgrade the driver type:

# rpm -Uvh kmod-cciss-4.6.28-6.el6.i686.rpm

Setup is now complete. Please REBOOT your computer NOW!!

NOTE: If the installation fails or if you see any warning or error messages,
STOP, do NOT reboot the computer. The driver will not be operational and you
must uninstall the driver by typing the following command:

# rpm -e kmod-cciss-4.6.28-6.el6.i686

The removal of the RPM restores the system back to cciss.ko module that is
included in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.

IMPORTANT:

This KMOD RPM will install binary driver that supports Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
and the errata kernels made available for this release. Once installed
these drivers will be carried forward with each errata kernel upgrade
using facilities included in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6. This is a big improvement
from previouse releases allowing the customer to not wait on driver updates
when errata kernels are released.
