Some components might have required or optional configuration settings. Configuration parameters include information necessary to set up the component correctly or passwords required for software installed by the component. You can change component options from the Baseline Library screen.
|
|
NOTE: You can also configure components if you use an input file. If you copy the configuration settings into a baseline, when you add that baseline to an HP SUM session, HP SUM imports the configuration settings during the inventory process. |
|
|
HP SUM 6.0.0 and later stores configuration settings differently than in earlier versions. HP SUM no longer stores configuration settings in the component. It stores the settings in the HP SUM database. You will need to re-configure component settings if you:
-
On the Baseline Library screen, select the baseline you want to use, select Fixes, and then select Configuration state until the components that offer configuration settings are filtered to the top.
-
Select Configurable for each a component you want to configure.
-
Enter the configuration settings, and then click Save in HP SUM to store the component settings in the current HP SUM database.
Repeat these steps for each component you want to configure.
NOTE: Configuration options vary based on the component.
|
|
NOTE: HP SUM 7.x does not support configuring components released prior to the HP SPP 2013.09.0(B). Use HP SUM 5.3.5 to update these components. |

Exporting a file after configuring components
You can use HP SUM 7.2.x and later to configure components and export the component configurations to a location of your choice. You can then import these configuration settings into another HP SUM session or use these exported configuration parameters to configure the components as you deploy them outside of HP SUM or with HP SUM on remote nodes. This allows you to configure components once and re-use the configurations.
The exported configuration file or script is stored in a directory name <component filename>_conf
. The directory contains the configuration file or script and a README
file with the instructions on how to deploy the component with the configuration outside of HP SUM. HP SUM stores the configuration file or script separately from the component for component security by not breaking the component security signing.
To configure and export component configurations:
-
On the Baseline Library screen, select the baseline you want to use, select Fixes, and then click Configuration until the components that offer configuration settings are filtered to the top.
-
Select Configurable for each a component you want to configure and then enter the configuration settings.
NOTE: Configuration options vary based on the component.
-
Click Save and Export, and then select a directory where you want to save the component configuration. Select whether you want to include user credentials in the configuration file. HP SUM creates a directory named after the component you exported. The name is
<component_name>_conf
. The Activity screen displays the address where it saved the configuration file.HP SUM includes a
README
file that provides instructions on how to deploy the component in stand-alone mode.
IMPORTANT: HP SUM stores configuration settings, including user credentials, in a plain-text file format that the component can use.
-
Click Save. The configuration data is saved in the HP SUM database and written to the appropriate file.
Repeat these steps for each component you want to configure.
Importing a configuration into HP SUM
If you have configured components in another HP SUM session, or in a baseline copied from another server, you can import these settings into the GUI.
|
|
NOTE: If you stored the baseline configuration files in the same directory as the baseline, HP SUM automatically imports the configuration settings when you add the baseline to the baseline library. |
|
|
-
On the Baseline Library screen, select the baseline you want to use, select Fixes, and then click Configuration until the components that offer configuration settings are filtered to the top.
-
Scroll down the list of components, and then select Configurable for each component you need to configure from a saved file.
-
Select the directory where you saved the configuration file, and then click Open.
IMPORTANT: HP SUM overwrites any existing component configuration as it automatically saves the imported configuration data.
Repeat these steps for each component you want to configure.
